Breast-Aid Pads Are The Natural, Fast And Effective Way To Help Prevent Or Relieve Pain And Discomfort When Breasts Are Feeling Tender, Hard, Sore, Lumpy Or Simply Uncomfortable.

Breast-Aid pads are the ultimate natural aid for all Mums who want to breast-feed their babies easily and comfortably, and make this unique time with their babies pain and stress free.

These breast warmers are designed as a natural and effective aid to help prevent or ease the common problems associated with breast-feeding, such as:

  • Mastitis (inflammation of the breast)
  • Nipple Vasospasm
  • Letdown
  • Engorgement
  • Expressing
  • Blocked Ducts

How Do They Work?

These thin pads have been developed using Flectalon, a unique material which reflects the body’s natural warmth back on itself in an effective, continuous and safe way that is both practical and convenient.  Flectalon was originally used to line the inside of incubators of prematurely born infants and research has shown Flectalon to be a very efficient insulator compared to other materials.

Breast Aid pads are shaped to fit comfortably inside the bra, using the body’s own heat to provide a gentle warmth which helps the breast milk to flow easily.

When the milk is flowing easily there is less likelihood of it getting “stuck” and forming lumps – which can lead to the milk being pressed out of the milk ducts and into the breast tissue – resulting in discomfort and possible inflammation of the breast.

The style of the pads means they can be used in different positions for maximum comfort and effectiveness to ensure all the milk ducts are covered
They are designed to be worn day and night if required.
They come in a choice of black and white and in two sizes.
The pads are machine washable at 40 degrees (do not tumble dry) and can be worn time and time again.

There’s no need to use any liquids, gels or to pre-heat the pads – no mess or fuss!

Ideal for first time Mums as well as more experienced mums these pads are a natural and effective way of preventing or dealing with common breast feeding problems.

When a new mum encounters problems with breast feeding it can be distressing for her and her baby, so by using the Breast Aid pads she will be taking natural steps to prevent such instances occurring.

More experienced Mums will already know they want to avoid the discomfort caused and will welcome a natural aid to help them and their babies enjoy the fulfilment of breastfeeding with comfort and joy.

When To Use Breast Aid Pads

Ideally breast pads can be used all the time to help ensure the breasts keep warm and the milk flows easily.

However, they can also be inserted into the bra 20-30 minutes before the next feed and can also be used to alleviate the pain caused by the common problems of breast feeding.

How To Use Breast Aid Pads

Start by making sure the bra is big enough, so it is not too tight with the Breast Aid in place.  Simply place the Breast Aid in the bra with the seam turned outwards.  The pads can be placed in any comfortable position

  • Upright
  • Sideways with the wider part inwards
  • Sideways with the wider part outwards

If a nursing pad is also required, place it directly on the breast and cover with the Breast Aid pad.  Ensure the nursing pad is changed often as it is important to keep the nipples dry.

Breast Aid pads can be hand washed in warm or cold water, and re-used throughout the breastfeeding period and for subsequent babies, making them both economic and long-lasting.

Common Breast Ailments

  • Mastitis and blocked ducts – during breast-feeding mastitis can develop as a result of blocked milk ducts.  If this occurs the breasts will feel tender and taut, and will form hard lumps.  This is not dangerous and the milk is still safe.  It will usually disappear with frequent breast feeding.
Warming the breasts with Breast Aid is a fast and easy way to help relieve the pain and discomfort, and help the milk to flow more easily.  Continuation of frequent feeding to try and “empty” the breast will help unblock the milk duct.  Feed on the affected breast first.  Changing the baby’s feeding position may also help.
Massaging the breast lightly towards the nipple during feeding will also assist, as will a hot shower.
If there is no noticeable improvement within 6 hours, or if a high temperature develops or you feel ill, then contact your doctor.  Mastitis (rarely) develops into an abscess requiring anti biotic treatment and possibly surgery.
Wear Breast Aid warmers all the time as a preventative measure.
  • Letdown reflex or expressing milk – to help with poor letdown reflex (especially before expressing milk) use Breast Aid for a minimum of 20-30 minutes before each feed or before expressing, or continuously for as long as is comfortable
  • Engorgement – For easing engorgement use Breast Aid for about 20-30 minutes before the feed, to help the milk flow.  A cold compress may be applied after the feed to soothe the breast if necessary.

Breast Aid can be used as much as is needed, including overnight and for as long as wanted during the day. Great for once baby is sleeping throughout the night.

More information about breast feeding is available through your local breastfeeding organisation and improvements in breastfeeding techniques can often help alleviate or prevent discomfort.

Midwives report that Breast-Aid breast warmers are a valuable item to assist with breastfeeding.

We highly recommend the breast warmers to our patients with Reynaud’s of the nipples (vasospasm)” Carolyn Lawlor-Smith and Jill Bruce.
